Which courier?

I've read Martin's advice on using a courier other than Royal Mail. I've sold something on Ebay and its under 4kg. However reading reviews on couriers like Collect+, Yodel, Interparcel there seems to be so many negative reviews. Can anyone please provide advice on which one to use? Its a UK address it needs to be sent to & I will be looking to insure it up to £100.

Thanks

I use ParcelForce or City Link booked through Parcelmonkey. If you use Parcelforce you don't even need a printer as they bring a sticker.
  • I have used Collectplus many times for larger items.
    So far 100% delivered.

I recently used Royal Mail guaranteed next day for a similar sized parcel, posted it Friday late morning, did not pay the extra for Saturday delivery - and just after 9am Saturday had an email from the buyer saying it had arrived! However, back in January I posted a parcel first class recorded, it went missing, eventually came back to me late March (Lesson - always put a return address on the outside !!). I'd put in a claim for "lost in post" whcih they refused (second hand item, so I did not have the purchase receipt) but they did refund the £9+ postage I'd paid - and a few weeks later the buyer came and collected it, so in the end all was OK.
  • I sometimes use Hermes, either at https://www.hermesworld.com or https://www.interparcel.com
