Help needed choosing a boiler please

My 12 yr old Worcester 28CDI combi packed up (started leaking, pressure went to 0 and wouldn't respond to the water top up by an engineer who also found the heat exchanger had a hole and was leaking). He recommended a new boiler but he was going on holiday so I didn't get any further advice.

I live in a 3-bed end of terrace with 1 bathroom (no bath, only shower), 7 radiators + heated towel rail. I just want another combi fitted in the same place as the old one. Looking for reliability and good quality without too high a price tag.

I've been browsing the forums and am leaning towards a Viessman 200 WB2C but not sure whether this boiler would be suitable. I've had a quote for a Viessmann 100 (£1650 including power flush etc.) which seems reasonable) but have read a few bad comments about these. How much more am I likely to need to pay on top for the 200? And is the weather compensation recommended?

I've also had a quote for a Worcester Bosch 27 CDI (£1900) and a WB 30si (£2000). All quotes are from different companies and include fitting. All are accredited installers so I would get the extended warranty.

Any advice on which to choose would be greatly appreciated.:)

Is there anything else wrong with the boiler? If not, it's probably worth repairing.

New 'OEM' heat exchangers are not excessively expensive (Have a look on ebay some comparative prices. Search for "28CDI heat exchanger" ) Be aware that your boiler has two different heat exchangers!

You'd also need to take fitting into account but it will work out oodles less than a new boiler.

If you do decide to go for a new boiler then personally I'd choose the Bosch, but only because I have little experience of the other brands!

You might also need to pay for TRV Radiator valves, digital programmer, anti limescale device and a power flush. There may also be changes to pipework to pay for.

Never bothered with weather compensation myself..just turned the boiler up in the winter and down in the summer.

Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated! I don't know anything about boilers (used to leave all that sort of thing to my late husband) ... But apparently there were two leaks going on inside the boiler and as it was 12 years old I was told it was coming to the end of its life anyway. I'd happily settle for a repair if it's feasible.

If I do go for a new Worcester Bosch would it be better to go for the 30si or the 27cdi ? All quotes include power flush. It'll just be a combi swap so hopefully won't involve much pipework. The radiators already have TRVs.

    Thanks again.
