If your claim is accurate stop worrying

They get info from all sorts of places and have to investigate it. There is even a benefit cheats phone line so that you can report people you think are abusing the system.

How do they check up on it. Again probably lots of checks can be made but asking you is one option. Obviously they aren't going to tell you what information they got or their source but I would expect you to find out the outcome.

Wouldn't hold your breathe for an apology though!

i had the same letter last week, but i think it was due to me changing my address with them a couple of months back and checking OH still lives with me. I did think it was them thinking i've been fraudulent but then i would actually receive tax credits if we weren't together! don't worry!

Just a small thought BB66, but have you thought about Work tax credit and the disability element or even applying for disability living allowance. You say you are disabled, so that may be an avenue to look into.

Hi horseunderwater, thanks for the reply but after the fiasco with the tax credits, I am not interested in claiming any sort of benefit. I'll be happy with my pension when the time comes :)
