I don't often post - but am always lurking for ideas.
Anyway, I noticed that you appear to only have a small amount remaining on your sofa's - is this a typo or a correct figure? If its correct, then you'll be freeing up another £95 to put towards another debt once this has gone.0 -

Unfortunately it was a typo - I have another 10 months payments left! but thank you for noticing, it could have made a huge difference

Hi Vix good to see you around again I can't really add a lot on to the suggestions already posted but wanted to say well done for finding your way back when you needed to
A lot of us tend to come and go and sometimes we leave it a little late to confess our sins (like me!!) :rotfl: Hope the move goes through ok it semms like it would be of great help to you. 0 -
Hi Vix,
Your Tube fairs seem very high indeed? I buy a monthly travel oyster covering all zones and it only costs £165.20 for a month at anytime and any public transport.
Are you just paying out for each journey or have you already looked into this? there could be savings to be made there.
Also your Internet charges are outragous. can I ask what speed you are getting and who are your service provider?
I am currently with Virgin Media and after haggling with them am enjoying a 4MB service for £12.49 a month for 6 Months before it will go back to £24.99
I havent paid £35 a month for years so theres a defininte saving to be made there unless you have a really fast serviceOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

I double checked my tube fare and you are correct - this is very high, it should be £126 per month which is what I'm actually paying, I must have had a funny five minutes with my calculator.
As for the internet, as I have already mentioned we have no landline so we are currently using a 3g card which does cost £35 per month. Until we move we cannot look into getting this changed as we'd have to sign up to a 12 month contract and pay £110 to get connected to the exchange. Also, the building we are in isn't in a cable area so we couldn't even look at this. I will, of course, be looking to change this once we move and we can get a landline. If OH then wants to keep the 3g card he can pay for this himself.0 -
Another step in the right direction - I got my &more card and transferred £1500 (the maximum I could) from my amex card. So that's a saving on the interest payments from this card. I'm hoping that I'll pay the outstanding balance of this card off before payday (I got my bonus last month and I'll be able to properly work out how much excess I have as I want to keep a months worth of bill payments in my account a month in advance due to the fact some of the payments come out before payday and I have been unable to change these payment dates).
Sorry rambling...0 -
Just a quick update from me. Since I last posted my debts have dropped from 12368.98 to 11561.71.
One of my phone contracts has ended and I've transfered the Amex credit card onto the M&S life of balance card. Just before my 6 month deadline is up for doing the transfers I shall give them a call to see if I can up my limit and transfer any more from the MBNA card.
I have cleared the Egg Money card and am in the process of having this closed.
My next mission is to clear the £974.68 owing on Egg. I'm still sorting out my bank account so I can set up paypal and once this is done I shall ebay like a demon.
Unfortunately the flat we were going to move into is going to be delayed, we've spoken to our current landlord and he's agreed we can stay put for up to 6 months so we're going to do that. The flat we're going for is housing assosication so we're going to hold out for that as it'd save us a fortune.0 -
Another quick update from me and my debts have gone down again to £10609.15. I've also transferred stuff around and I've now my car loan, sofa loan and two credit cards so it's a bit more manageable.0

My lord VIX you are going for it well done
any news on the new place?Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
another thing to note is that if any of your tube journeys is dealyed bty over 15 mins, make sure you fill out a form ( customer charter- available from all tube stations) & send it opgg,. youll get a 4 quid credit for each delay you report
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
