I bought one of these yesterday and its a fantastic printer. I tried printing one photo 5x7" on glossy paper it its taking at least 5 mins to print. What am I doing wrong? I'm using Windows Picture & Fax viewer to view and print.0

I'd avoid like the plague.
The ink refills cost a fortune - more than the printer!ac's lovechild0 -
A long, long, time ago, when this site was in its infancy, and possibly Martin too........I got a Dell 920 all in one for the princely price of £14.99. Its given good service, but even tho I use compatibles inks are expensive and seem to run out very quickly. (Needless to say I've never paid Dell's silly prices for ink.)
Anyway, given that inks for this machine are so cheap I wonder if I should buy the brother to replace my Dell? I don't want to spend for spending's sake but if I can justify it by seriously cutting the cost of ink so much the better.
Any views?

The Dell is a rebadged Lexmark with the cartridge clips altered to only take Dell ones, if you break off part of the clip it will take Lexmark and compatible cartridges, thou still expensive..
BUT this Brother is a much better printer, and dont forget it is a photo printer ( with memory card reader, which includes XD cards), scanner, copier combination so value for money too. I would go for this all-in-one.ac's lovechild0 -

Rubbish! You can't have owned this printer as the compatible cartridges cost around £10 for a set of 4 including post. The ink cartridges are individual so you only have to replace the colour that has run out. I have the DCP 117 & it's a great piece of equipment & I've recommended it widely. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

Yes, I've been using Lexmark compatibiles but they are expensive still as you say so - I've decided to go for it and will pick up from Argos this pm. Wonder I will also get the higher spec one? Whatever, I am sure I w3ill pleased with my purchase thanks to the OP and others for advice.Stop looking for answers....
