Laptop Recommendation?

I'm after a new laptop and am thinking of spending around £600 or less. It will be used primarily for database work (running SQL Server 2012) so performance and disk capacity are important.
Not too fussed about games but would like a highish screen resolution so that I can get more windows in view.
Never been a brand snob but reliability is important too - I always used to buy ThinkPads when they were IBM but haven't tried a Lenovo yet. I'd also consider a refurb.
Currently have two Dells and an Acer, all of which suffer from overheating.
Any tips?

Hi
We're also looking for a new laptop since my husbands Acer has died. It's only about 3 years old so not too impressed.
He's been looking at these two ASUS laptops
ASUS X53 SX1330V i7 2670 processor with 4Gb RAM and 500Gb harddrive from Comet £540
or ASUS X53E SX1339S i7 2670 processor with 6Gb RAM and 500Gb harddrive from Currys for £550
The first one was recommended in What Laptop.
The down side is that neither are in stock at the moment.
Any views ? Are they decent machines or has anyone got any other suggestions ?
