Map showing house numbers.?

scope

Hi,
I am in the process of finding a house to buy, and always spend some time on google maps and similar to see what is around the house, direction of garden, size of garden, etc, before viewing the property.. However, it is not always possible to identify the house in question from a satellite photo (although they are of very good quality).. So, is there a map available online where I can see where the house actually is, based on house number? I then know where to look at the satellite photo.

not sure if it's the easiest way, but when i'm looking i always check the public access planning register for that area, it gives you a map of your house and others round about so you could work it out from that.
it's got lots of uses incl see if houses nearby have been extended etc so give a rough idea of what you could do to your property in time, etc
if you go to the local council/area website, and search under public access planning, they all have a site where you can check planning applications - it's free for all
i find google earth good to, whole street usualy points the same way so you don't need to find the exact house and there's a compass in the top cornerDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
if you search for a property on land registry website and just put a road it will show you all the house numbers. clicking on one house number and "map" will show you where the house is.
A lot of map sites just point to the centre of the postcode.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Property mapping in common use is based on postcode. As postcodes don't relate to individual properties, it is not possible to centre on the actual property for sale - the map centres on the postcode which generally covers 5-6 properties in any particular street. For most town uses, it should be close enough to review the local area adequately, even though you don't know specifically which house it is (unless you have visited the property).
The only way I know that you could get individual property mapping is via the Land Registry title document - for that, you would already need to know the property /house number. You would also need to pay for it.0 -
I'm moving at present and have also found Leeds public access web site very useful. It saves wasting time on viewings for houses that are on main junctions etc. You can zoom in on the exact house and also see the last 30 years of planning applications for it.0

i wonder if you read the posts before yours, telling exactly how to obtain a property map of a specific property, without paying.Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.

The post 'before' mine [silvercar] was actually posted at the same time and was not on the board when I responded. However, having viewed the Land registry website, I could see nowhere that the information was made available free online without paying for it.
Your own post referred to a public access service which doesn't appear to be universally available - our local council website makes no mention of it, and searching around the county, support for this appears to be patchy and only provided for the larger areas. It might be something that can be obtained by visiting the local authority offices of course.
My comment that "it is not possible to centre on the exact house" related to online property mapping services that are based on postcodes. I am not saying that there is nowhere that such information might be available, but it certainly doesn''t seem to be *freely* available online for all areas.0 -
I came to this site hoping to ask the same question but I've since found out the answer form elsewhere.
If you go onto multimap and type in the house number and street name (e.g. 123 Lavendar Street) in the search box it will show you exactly where that house is.0 -
Go to your council's planning website, look for planning applications within reach of the target property, and look for the 'location plan' or 'notified neighbour plan' within those applications.
Usually it's based on an ordnance survey map. You can get the maps from OS if you pay for them, but thankfully someone else has already paid (the architect or planning consultant), and it's there to browse.0
