Hi

I was wondering please if anybody could recommend a good savings account to put varying amounts of money in a month.
I dont want to get the money really easy but I would like to have access if I need to.
Thank you

There are a lot of savings accounts which allow immediate withdrawals but some have a penalty of loss of interest while others offer instant access without penalty but with a lower interest rate. Some have bonuses for the first 12 months and some don't.

A good instant access savings account is the Newcastle Building Society Bobby Robson ISA with a minimum balance of £1. Instant access without penalty and 2.6%, the same as their instant access account but being an ISA the interest is tax free. The drawback is that you're then stuck with Newcastle Building Society for further ISAs and any money in the Bobby Robson ISA will be applied to your ISA allowance for the tax year.

Barclays, Monthly Saver. 3.25% you can put one payment each month in between the amounts of £20 and £250 and that will last for 12 months fixed rate. Instant access to funds.

Why would you be "stuck with Newcastle for further ISAs"?

What do you mean by "any money in the Bobby Robson ISA will be applied to your ISA allowance for the tax year"?

That is a pretty mediocre rate for a regular saver. You can get 8% at First Direct, and 6% at HSBC, and there's quite a few more that are better than Barclays - - see the Regular Savers thread here.

Worth noting though that for the better paying regular savers you basically need to leave your money alone for 12 months - not sure this is right for the OP.
