Renting a property with no Habitation certs.

Well Kilty another Money saving Super fan with no idea.
Was in the letting agents this morning and they have agreed to pay half of the rent as this would put them in breach of contract. So a £4800 cheque from the letting agency in the bank and the landlord aggreeing to carry out the repair work to gain the compleation certs.
So everyone take everything these Money Saving Super fans like Kilty say with a pinch of salt as ive found out his advice was b*****ks and im now £4800 up and i get to stay in my house.
Makes you wonder with advice from the likes of Kilty is there any point on posting on this site.0 -
Oh just so you all know the advice from user tbs was spot on as i went down that route.
So i wont tar everyone with the same brush0 -
Blimey, so much venom in one thread.
Anyway, congrats on your windfall of £4800, although it rather suggests you should move out today if the place is in contractual breach and uninhabitable. Hope the move goes well.0 -
Thanks Paddyrg. Money will come in handy a new motorbike i think lol.
We are getting to stay in the house as the work required is minimal to be granted the certificates and if compleated to the building inspectors requirments.
Landlord has been great too as he does not not want to loose his regular income.
So all in its a win for me. But as others have said in the post if the building inspector was not of as good nature the rules state if there is no certs then the house should not be lived in.
Now i might tackle a PPE claim lol.0 -
I would think very carefully about stating your views on here whilst openly telling everone you work for British Gas/Centrica as this contradicts the terms and conditions (which you would have got the handbook for when you started) in the Business Code of Conduct. Is it too simplistic to ask your Landlord to get the certificates?
Even though you state your views are not assosiated with British Gas, Centrica the fact you name your Employers in the thread means you are bringing the company into disripute.
Stand by for an investigation..........................................0 -
Well done, you reeled a few in.
Isn't it back to school today though? They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Did I upset you with a very simple suggestion? You will see that I have been on this forum for years with my companies agreement although not as an official agent. What is under my info is what my company has asked me to do. I would never do anything to bring my company into disrepute but believe I have helped many people in the time I have been on the forums.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

Yeh I was in until the £4,800 cheque for half the rent. If the LA was in breach of contract they would still be so the full amount would need to returned. Also yesterday he was asking if he would be entitled to any compensation, then says today LA just rolls over and hands out nearly five grand, just laughable. It's someone else's fault.0 -
Aww dodger1 you want me to buy you a pint. Money is already showing in my bank account.

No i work for a division of said company and two of my workmates got the sack for posting comments on facebook.
They are clamping down on on comments on social networking sites so be carefull.
I was pulled up because the picture i had displayed the company logo in the background prior to a works nite out.
The HR and Marketing Dept are clamping right down on it.0
