Help with .jpg file needed please

Hi i have had a freind design a company logo for me, it is a simple logo mainly text and with a box border.

I need to be able to add it to a document, alter its size, maybe rotate it, add text underneath it, make it smaller etc etc

Can anybody tell me a program to do this with please?

I tried it in paint but i cant see how to import the .jpg file at all.

I need to make it smaller but im unsure if i can do this and if it would effect its quality, is this possible?

I also need to have this logo smaller and be able to add text underneath it, can this be done?

Obviously not very good at these kind of things so any suggestions and help would be great!

Thanks

Your friend would be the best person to do this for you and preserve the quality of the image.
If you think you'll need to do it often, a good program I used to use a lot was Paintshop Pro, relatively cheap compared to Photoshop and very capable.
There's free alternatives out there too but I have no advice to offer on them.

    Thanks mate

To be honest i dont want to bother him as he did the logo for free and i just feel like im taking the mick with trivial things like this.

Can you tel me the name of any free programs please and maybe i can have a play with them myself before i go back to him (should it prove hard work)

I have all the text i need ready to cut and paste below my logo so i dont think it should be too hard?

I guess the re-sizing of the image isnt as easy as i thought it might be....

why cant you import, never heard of that !

    - file open
    - resize icon
    - save as and you are sorted

Make sure you save it elsewhere before you start - just in case

If it's for word documents eg. a letterhead, than you can do all the editing you need within word itself.
