5p off per litre of Fuel when you spend £50+ at Tesco

  • I was not whinging. I was wanting to know if there was an alternative to a 5p petrol coupon on a £50+ spend.

Or, more to the point, why don't they?

I can't say I have ever seen a promo on pans or knives if you spend over a set amount.

I would shop more often with Tesco's if they did think of non car owners. After all, a £2.50 coupon would have to be spent at Tesco's, just as a petrol coupon would.

As for your forum etiquette, I suggest you read the guidelines.

As for the promotions - they are still doing / just finished a knife promotion - where you spend a set amount you get a voucher - exchange a few vouchers and you get a discount off a knife (or set).

As for forum etiquette - Please!!!

If you have 2 vouchers, and you need say 40 litres of fuel, why not get 20 litres and use 1 voucher, then the same with other voucher. That will give you 10p off per litre total.

    I just got a £3 moneycard from Tesco :j

I complained that their 5p off a litre of fuel promotion was unfair to people who lived alone, or perhaps had a small family.

I said they should offer 1p off if you spend £10, 2p off if you spend £20 and so on - perhaps if more people wrote to them suggesting it they may introduce it???? People power!!:)

Tesco must have extended this promotion as I picked up the 5p off voucher with today's shop.

  • Is my brain not working? I've just used one of these 5p per litre vouchers for petrol which came to over £46 - by my reckoning that should be around £2 off but my bill was £45.14. It only occurred to me on the way home and when I checked the receipt it only has the total amount - nothing to say I've used a voucher or what the amount off was or the original total or anything so I can't prove I even used it and she kept it afterwards.

Would there be something about the VAT I've not taken into account - like it being added on after the money off bit or something? If so that's sneaky!
