Kitchen Worktops - Any Experience of Veneers?

Hello again,
as people were so helpful with my previous question I thought I ask another.
I've heard that you can buy worktops that have a veneered solid surface - granite, quartz or composite on MDF or whatever. The veneer is sufficient to allow sinks to be undermounted, I'm not sure if drain grooves can be cut. It is a budget conscious halfway house between laminate and solid.
Any thoughts? Again, all help really appreciated.

Some of the composite tops can have undermount sinks cut into them like Bushboard Encore and some of them you have to buy a special length of worktop with the groves and undermount sink already cut into them like Maia. There are lots of different makes doing composite worktops on chipboard or MDF so best bet is to ask the supplier0

Avoid the veneers. Try and stretch to the real thing or put in cheap laminate tops and upgrade when possible.
The cost-benefit of various types of veneered worktops doesn't really stack up. Its too expensive for what it is.0 -
Bushboard Encore composite worktop - Chocolate Sparkle - With an undermounted sink and drainer grooves installed on site: did this a few months back now.
