Are 2 year servicing packs worth it.
I'm buying a 3 year old car from a main dealer and they have offered 2 years MOT and servicing for £200. If anyone has bought one of thesse recently did you find that it was worth it. Or if anyone has had their fingers burnt is there anything I need to lok out for please.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.

I wouldn't want to risk it, and turned it down myself when it was offered to me.
Car dealers often seem to go out of business and then reopen with a new name and owners, and might then not accept the old offer.
The local Ford dealer to me has had at least 6 names in the last 20 years.0 -
I took out a 2 year servicing plan with a big national dealer. Whilst there is a risk of the company going bust as it's such a big company I think it's a balanced risk compared to the savings. Worked out it was £100 cheaper on the deal than 2 services at my local garage. I decided to go for it in the end as my car is still under warranty so needed to be done at a main dealer and that can be expensive.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

They are not usually transferable to a new owner so if you plan to keep the car for 2 years then I would say its worth it.0

As I understand it you don't need to have main dealer servicing to keep the warranty these days.
Still needs to be done to schedule and and specification but can be undertaken by an independent garage.

Depends on the car, its service intervals, where they would be carried out and your mileage really.
I.e (and this is made up) if it was a ford, with 2 year / 15k service intervals, you bought from a large independent retailer and done 6k per year then no, it probably wouldn't save any cash. Wouldn't matter if you would prefer to service the car every 6 months / year they wouldn't cover it under the plan.
Should be pretty easy to work out - given that i've just paid £250 for a service on my own car, will need another £150 service early 2013, needs a £50 MOT in August then same again next year I'd immediately save quite a bit.0 -

Depends on make of car and several other factors. It's safer to stick with main dealer whilst under warranty as the manufacturer will have less of a get out, although you are right EU law means that you can keep warranty under certain conditions and get it serviced at an independent.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
in 2010 I bought a 2 years old Toyota verso, from a main dealer, with low mileage so I was planning to keep it for a while...I was not offered any service plans but I shopped around for one and I bought a 3 years plan for £530 to include 2 major and 1 intrim service..I think it saved me about £150 if I was to pay per service plus the convenience of small monthly payments over 36 months0

But didn't you sell it and buy a 30k Audi on finance?

the only reason they are offering this deal is to tie you in to going back to them rather than an outside repairer
as said depending on make it can be a bonus or an ache but the price sounds reasonable just make sure you get a pre mot done before the warranty runs out this year assuming its not due yet?0 -

I agree for high premium brands but not for the likes of VW/Ford/Vauxhall and the like."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
