Converting Jersey pounds into GB sterling?

Options
Hi all

Not sure this exactly the right place to post but can anyone tell me if I can convert some Jersey notes (£18 worth, so not a lot) into GB pounds? Do I just take them along to my bank?

If anyone knows that'd be great. Also have some Indonesian money..any ideas or if charities still take them? I am keen that someone makes money from this money!

Thanks in advance

Yes, that should work. It's sterling cash. You can even spend it as per normal, although that depends on the retailer.

You should be able to deposit your money into your bank, some may just exchange but some may have to process it through your account.

You can pay them into your bank account as long as they are notes and not coins.

Seeing as the coins are the same shape and size as normal UK coins, banks are unlikely to even notice, especially if you pay them in in bags. Or you can just spend them, I've received Jersey, Guernsey, Gib and IOM coins from supermarkets and just spent them as usual.

Nationwide did. I came back from Jersey and threw the pennies in my penny jar, thinking nothing of it. When I counted it up and took it into the building society, the lady rejected the bags on the basis it was mixed currency! I separated them out and spent the Jersey ones in shops.

As for the notes, HSBC accepted them under the "S&I notes" section of the paying-in slip.

If you're still in Jersey, the foreign exchange place in the airport will change £30 into GBP notes for you.

A bank should change the notes for you - and jsut spend the coins (its not sterling, but they are not likely to notice!)
