Oops - backed into a parked car

Hello,

My mother was taken into hospital last night and I drove 150 miles to be with her. At 5am, we were leaving the hospital and in my exhausted state, I backed straight into a parked car. What an idiot!

Anyway, I left a note and the car owner is happy to settle it whichever way is cheaper. The damage is to the rear bumper, just superficial scratches to the paintwork, with no dents or anything. I was just wondering how much this might cost to repair?

I am a very poor student, coming to the end of 7 years at uni, so this couldn't have come at a worse time! If anybody could recommend a cheap repair type person/tell me the best way to proceed, I would be very grateful.

Thanks for reading

problem is you cant give a figure without seeing the car
the owner with the damage might be talking to dave down the pub now on how much they can screw you for
    either go through insurance
or ask owner to get 3 independent quotes and you will pay for his petrol to get them
mull over the answer he gives you but work fast so insurance door is open

    hope mums ok

I'd contact them and see what they think you should do, see if they generally are nice enough people to not want to screw you over. Sorry about your mum, and it's good you left your contact details and didn't just drive away!

looks like £75 to £150 to me
so about £100 should cover it nicely

Thanks for the help guys. I have spoken to the owner, he seemed very nice and said it was up to me how I wanted to settle it. I said I'd call back tomorrow to give us both time to research it. Hopefully less than £100 then!

Oh and my mums ok now, thank you for the kind words. I'll phone around for some quotes tomorrow.
