Hi.
I ordered 3 products to the value of 800 pounds yesterday. I ordered from a high street shop and asked for click and collect delivery. Everything went through (or so I believed) and I received a text to say my 3 packages had arrived.
When there was told only 2 packages had arrived (The pram and cup-holder) and not the hood. I rang up, was told it was to do with the bank not being able to authorize the payment on the pram (the most expensive item) yet that was the one i received? I phoned my bank, they said the full payment of all three products was pending (in the full amount) waiting to be accepted by the merchant. I then called the merchant who said I would receive a call on tuesday to discuss with the holding department? They said the bank would not authorize it? What I dont understand is how has it come out of my available balance and I have been delieved the items? Very odd.
My question is this..
Surely, they would contact the bank not me, whats this got to do with me, especially after they have delieved the products?
How on earth would it have been delieverd if it hadnt gone though this makes no sence?
This doesnt answer where my hood is.
Im so upset and confused. I cant use this pram, I have been told a million different things. Any advice would be great im at my witts end

Also is it even possible to get authorization on some of the payment and not the rest? Really does not make any sense to me

Surely its either authorization for the whole payment or nothing at all?
Im so confused

On the first post - I can't help really - I'm a bit confused why an item they couldn't settle on got dispatched and I'm going to guess that your chap in the shop actually didn't have the right information. Wait for the call on the Tuesday. I have found numerous times that banks will claim 'it's fine' when actually it isn't and there's a problem somewhere - and equally - I've seen online retailers be refused payment for no reason and the bank claim they didn't even see the request.
I'd also point out that marking the amount on the available balance and actually taking the money are two separate steps (see below). Hence why it can have been deducted and still not be settled.
On the second post - yes it is. It's what's known as split settlement. You perform an 'auth' on the entire amount, and then repeatedly call a 'settle' (which actually takes the money) on the appropriate amounts.
This is particularly used by online retailers where they will dispatch items from multiple warehouses. They would only want to do the dispatch when the money has been confirmed - but to try and coordinate that across multiple places and days would be too complex - so instead, as each shipment is ready, the settlement is taken.
