Skin primer - is there one that isn't silicone based?

I wear mineral makeup and like my skin care to be as natural as poss or I break out.
I get married in 6 weeks and am now doing my own makeup on the day.
I, however am going to be 40 in 4 weeks and need all the help I can get.
Is there a skin primer that isn't silicone based? I like the effect of these but not the feel on my skin and they give me spots and I find I am 'sweaty looking' a few hours later.
Any recommendations please?
Glowgirl? Any ideas?
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Laura Mercier's primer doesn't seem to have silicone in the ingredients - it's pricey though.

They do an oil-free version but it has silicone listed in the ingredients, albeit much further down that most primers that have it as the 1st/2nd ingredient.

There are plenty of mineral primers available; is it these you are referring to when you talk about primers containing silicone, or are you just referring to mainstream/high street/liquid primers when you mention this?

It's the skin primers that are full of dimethicone etc like smashbox primer etc that I mean.

Bareminerals do a really nice primer, not cheap, not sure if its silicone based but I doubt it x

Hi:) what are you trying to achieve? if you want a uniform matt looking skin then neat Milk of Magnesia would be the cheapest and most effective product (trust me on this I've recommended this on here a lot and had good results) apply a very light layer with cotton wool and allow to dry thoroughly, most oil absorbing primers are based on MoM so if you prefer to buy one No7 in a white tube is a great product. If you are looking for a dewy look then most of the primers will be silicone based (I hate these too) I find moisturiser massaged in really well does a better job without the plastic greasy coating.

As you mentioned you are nearly 40 (I'm 43) would you mind if I recommended a product you may not have considered?, Soap n Glory make a fantastic wrinkle filler (sorry:o) that also doubles as a primer, I use liquid foundation and mix it in my hand with the filler and apply as normal, leave it to dry and five minutes later there's a noticeable difference:j it is silicone based but you only need a small amount so it might be worth looking at. Now I'm on a roll about wrinkles (again sorry:o) I have recently been using Powderflage by Benefit on individual lines and wrinkles and the difference is huge but its still only a stop gap until I get botox and fillers *counts the days* - if I can help anymore please let me know and congratulations on your wedding:)

eta - just learned that powderflage is discontinued, I had it in my beauty supplies so didnt buy it, thats a real shame its a great, if messy, product.

Thank you Glowgirl!! I certainly don't mind any help with my wrinkles, like I said I could do with any help I can get.
I will get the Soap and Glory one, I use some of their products and always find them good. Will it work with mineral makeup? I have bags under my eyes :( and criss crossy lines around them in a circle. I think wrinkly filler will work a treat there!
Does this go shiny a few hours later?
I have botox and fillers as a model from training schools and I get it done for cost. But sadly I don't think much can be done for my criss crossy lines!
I just want to look youthful and glowing on my big day!

It depends on your skintone though - anyone with a natural tan like me will look grey and ashy with MoM. I find using a v light layer of Soltan SPF50 (for face) gives my make-up a better look, that lasts all day.

When I want my skin to look super-amazing for an event I tend to use an EA ceramide capsule. It looks greasy and like the world's worst disaster to begin with, then it soaks in after a minute and gives an excellent base. Have been using these occasionally for years (only ever buy them for my mum though, as she uses them regularly).

I just use my favourite serum as a primer or a good moisturiser - they seem to do the same job, i.e. give your foundation something to cling to while giving you a softer, flakeless and more even base.

The one in the link is the right one, I would think it would work with mineral make up, I'm presuming you mean the powder one I would put some filler on your hand and mix in the powder then use as a liquid foundation, I found when I used the filler as a layer on its own rather then mixing it wasn't as effective but you should experiment with the mineral powder, I never really got on with mineral make up so it would be interesting to see how you get on, it doesn't make me any more shiny then usual and I have very oily skin. I've just remembered another product you might like that I use on occasion its Estee Lauder spotlight which is the same product as MAC Strobe cream this is a pink tinted cream that is sold as a tome improver but it makes make up flawless and last forever, when everyone else looks rough at 2am you would still look fresh:rotfl:I mix as above or like this product layered in the normal way, I cant use it too much as EL and MAC products break me out with continued use.

I don't blog as I don't have time also after years in the beauty industry (I'm not anymore) I get jaded with it all quite easily so I just post on here as I still have an interest, I'm happy to help anytime if I can:)
