Extractor maybe too close to the Gas Hob!

Next week the house is due for it's first Landlords Gas Check. T he electrician mentioned that he thought the extractor hood looked too close to the gas hob.
I have looked online and it seems the regs now ask for 75cm clearance from the hob to the extractor. I have measured from the top of the hob(where you would put a pan on) to the extractor over the hob and I get 64cm.
Have the regs changed did 64cm use to be ok will it be ok now ?
If it wont be ok what are my realistic options ?

Could you not re-position it 12cm higher?0

Regs are actually 760mm.
If extractor hood manufacturer allows it, it can be reduced to 650mm above a standard gas hob.0 -
We dont have the document for the extractor as it was in when bought the house and there doesnt seem to be a name on it.
No I dont believe its easy to move the extractor up 12cm or so as its built into what I can only be described as a big wooden structure (again there when bought the house). It seems to be built into the wall !
I will try and post some pictures....HERE

I found the documentation for the hob and it says 650mm clearance is required. So it could now be down to 1cm !"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Its probably reasonable to assume that when the extractor was fitted that MIs allowed it to be fitted where it is.
Frankly that box its been installed in is a bit of an eysore (I can say that freely as it was there when you bought it) and why wall cabs weren't fitted either side heaven only knows. Its obviously an extractor wall cabinet and if its a recirc extractor which is what it looks like (with carbon filters) then it would be very easy to move it up if necessary. The limiting factor will be if it vents to the outside but even then thats not insuperable. I'd be tempted to wait and see what the guy says about it. If nothing then you've been worrying unecessarily.

I can't see even the most pedantic inspector being overly concerned given it's an established installation and you are talking 10mm. I would make sure it has a new filter and isn't dripping lard onto the cooker, just to show you actually maintain stuff in good order,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Yes a new filter is in place so we will now just see what the inspector says. Thanks all for the feedback."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

Yes that would seem to be the case it obviously has been allowed previously. Yup it is horrible but the house is to be rented out now so I don't what to have to do anymore work at it than is essential. I don't believe it is vented to the outside.
Yes now going to await the verdict of the inspector."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

You haven't met the one I have on my patch!
Pulled me up on a customers shrub/small bush that was slightly obstructing the gas meter box.
Had a massive row with him for about 30 mins over this, asking him whether I was supposed be be a bl**dy gardener as well now:eek:
Apparently he got his trousers dirty from the bush:rotfl:0 -
