    Sad sign of the times this.

    The OP took a mortgage out nearly 30 years ago which means I am assuming he now is at least in his 50's, which also means that I doubt that he inherited his compensation culture mentality from his parents.

    Apologies to the OP if 'he' actually turns out to be a 'she' btw.

    Look at your bank statements to see if it appeared each month.

    However, you need to remember that there is nothing wrong with having PPI (especially MPPI - or ASU as it would have been back then). You have to have been mis-sold it. It is highly unlikely you would get a 1984 sale of ASU for mortgages classed as a mis-sale. However, what would be your reason for complaint?
