do all taps have standard fittings?

as the question says, if a tap is suitable to mount on a basin, will it also be suitable to mount on a counter top with a pre-cut hole?

I've seen a tap I like on Amazon but I need it asap and don't want to ring my builder on a Sunday - I've got him on speed dial as it is and feel like I am turning into a stalker! The tap is shown sink mounted but I need to know if it could be counter mounted.

Yes they do and go for the square one IMO. As long as the physical dimension works with the surface mounted WHB its no problem.

Is your system all at mains pressure? Methinks you'll have problems with flow rate with either of them if it isn't.

    Cheers

what do you mean by 'all at mains pressure'. Also what do you mean about the physical dimensions working with the surface mounted WHB?

I'm leaning towards this one now

Do you have combi boiler or unvented cylinder? If so you are all at mains pressure.

This type of tap is very restrictive to flow and suffer with a conventional " cold tank in roof and hot cylinder in airing cupboard" system unless its pumped.

Is the tap body tall enough for the spout to be sensibly and aesthetically placed over the edge of the basin?

I have a combi boiler. I think that any of the taps I have been looking at would be tall enough - think they're all around the same height - however I'm now a bit worried about the 'reach' ie whether it will extend over the basin properly, if that makes any sense?
