Refused PPI claim

Could someone please advise me on claiming PPI back on my personal loan from 2007 or 2008 can't remember but I can check the paperwork if it makes a difference, it was only for £3000 and I have just finished paying it off. after reading Martins post about PPI I sent a letter to Lloyds TSB requesting the PPI to be reclaimed a year or so ago because I felt that I didn't need it and just assumed I had to have it as it was checked on the form which I signed, they sent a letter back to me refusing showing that I agreed by signing.....but I don't feel it was expressed to me that I had the choice to go elsewhere and purchase, and based on the amount if I did loose my job my redundancy would of completely covered the loan amount, I never replied to the letter basically because based on personal problems my mind was elsewhere. I really didn't need it and am unsure where I stand, have I missed the opportunity to get it reassesed, is there a time frame or do they extend it under 'special circumstances'???? any help on this would be appreciated, thanks in advance. :p

    Hello there

There is no harm in giving it another go, and if you did not receive the letter with a final decision, do give it a go anyway.
And as you also said, there was personal issues in the way so you did not get round to the fact of going forward with this at the time.

Complete the reclaim questionnaire, its the same questionnaire on the lloyds website as on this site, and send to the address shown on the lloyds website, keep a copy for yourself as well.

We can take it from there, if they refuse to look into this matter, it then maybe worth a shot of complaining to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) afterwards, explain your position of personal issues (in which this was why you could not take it any further at that time) and they will consider taking the case on.

But do try making the reclaim to LLoyds again first.
    Good luck.

If the PPI was in with the loan payment each month then this is Single Premium PPI, this is one of the reasons you use for mis sell and the most upheld of all reclaims,, this was in fact another loan that was paid to term end with interest.

The time limit to go to FOS is six months. It is only waived in exceptional circumstances. That usually means medical reasons which can be backed up with evidence.

I have seen the "exceptional circumstances" rule applied but, by definition, it is exceptional.

It is possible this was not a final response then the 6 months rule for FOS would not apply?.
