It sounds like we share the same local post office Olga!
Like you, I now go elsewhere - the final straw for me was being told that cerificates of postage were no longer issued free, but had to be paid for!"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

I once made a formal complaint about my local Crown Post office and Royal Mail actually took it seriously and phoned me a couple of times, and the problem was dealt with.
The issue that I was angry about was that they insisted until they were blue in the face that they were not obliged to use 2nd class post for parcels and could insist that 1st be used instead. So they used to shove on 1st class labels, which I refused to pay and it caused all sorts of problems. Whilst I was prepared to stand my ground and insist they peeled the labels off or paid the difference between 2nd and 1st themselves other people were not and I used to see people being forced to pay extra (sometimes even 1st class recorded on a simple birthday card with nothing apart from the card inside) and it made me angry that they were abusing the system that way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I did actually complain to RM about the refusal to issue free certificates of postage and RM did appear to take it seriously. Someone did phone me back to confirm that they had spoken to the post office concerned and (surprise, surprise) it had been hotly denied that anyone had attempted to charge for certificates of postage.
Nevertheless, for what it's worth, the incident was recorded."The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.

We had something similar to this a few times as well! I used to say "second" but they heard "first". You are then told, upon complaining, that "it's gone through the till now, you'll have to pay". No, I think not, YOU'LL have to peel the incorrect label off and take it off the till. I asked for second class, and I expect to pay for and have second class. They used to get so stroppy with us (same post office as in earlier post).
I complained to the post office as well and was more or less ignored. Law unto themselves, the post office. We decided that selective hearing was a prerequisite for getting a job with the post office.0 -
