Driving someone with Challenging Behaviour

My younger son has challenging behaviour, and has always attacked me, which can be inconvenient when I'm driving. I have now purchased clear shields that fit behind the driver & front passenger seats, to stop him attacking anyone in the front. His care home purchased them first, and refused to let him ride in my car unless I bought them too.
I thought this may be of use to others:

They are very easy to put in and out, which is fortunate as I don't want them in all the time!

Great idea, Crelling harnesses are good too, we use a Houdini - stops him getting tangled in his seatbelt during fits. He loves it, seems to comfort him (he's one of those kids that enjoys pressure, weighted blankets etc.).

We used a Crellling Harness when he was younger, it was very good. He did get so that he kept his seatbelt on, and only gave me an occasional pinch if he needed attention, which didn't really worry me - as I was used to it. It was when he pinched the driver in the care home car that they said it was unmanageable. He doesn't need to get out of his seatbelt to pinch me, at 6 foot tall with long arms, he can reach when in his belt (aged 21). I have a Vauxhall Agila.
Where did you buy the weighted blanket? It has been suggested I get him one.My two sons & I all have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.0 -

Hi, we use Sensory Direct for weighted items - when I originally ordered they had a 'try before you buy' scheme where you could borrow weighted blankets for a deposit, although I can't see details on the website anymore. We got the Weighted Therapy Sampler and he uses all of the items regularly, but he is very into pressure and before getting the blanket he would seek the sensation by placing heavy things on his arms and neck.
I believe that there are Ebay sellers that specialise in made-to-measure weighted blankets too.
In answer to which cars we use; I don't drive, but my son regularly travels in school and respite provider's minibuses, my friend's Zafira and his dad's 4x4, all of which have the type of seats required for a Houdini (since it buckles at the back it can't be used with the back seats on many cars).Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur0 -
