Can I reclaim bank charges from HSBC ?

Hi I'm new to all of this so please bear with me
I previously banked with HSBC & got myself into a bit of a mess with charges etc as well as getting into 28k of debt
I have just received a list of charges totalling £2500 for unauthorised overdraft, return of direct debits etc over 2 years
After I had a baby & my income was reduced to SMP I could no longer pay for anything as my account was pretty much wiped out with charges every month. I then opened up a new basic account with the co op and HSBC passed my account to metropolitan collections
My question is am I eligible to reclaim these charges as the account is still with metropolitan and I am paying this off at £10 a month which is all I can afford due to all of my other debts
Sorry for waffling on hope to receive some help with this

Hi
I had problems with charges on my HSBC account (would incur charges, pay those charges which meant Direct Debits could'nt come out so incurred more charges).
I wrote to the bank and received a small amount of money as a 'goodwill gesture'.
Try writing to the bank explaining your situation and asking for charges to be refunded and if they do not refund go to the financial Ombudsman.Handle every situation like a dog:
If you can't eat it or hump it
Pee on it and walk away

I have now received a copy if charges from HSBC over £3k worth
Includes a lot if informal overdraft fees for £50, £100, £150 etc and direct debit recalls £25, £35, £60
How do I know and work out what I can ask for? Do I just add up the fees and ask for it back with a statement saying why I am still in such financial hardship?

Any claim is unlikely to result in a refund as you are no longer the customer of HSBC and hence the minimum standards set out within the lending code for how banks treat their customers does not apply in this instance."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Ok thanks. Even though the account was moved to their collections agency Metroploitan who are part of them? This account is still active ad I am still paying it off
All I want is a refund to this account with them to help me pay it off. It was their high charges mounting up that I couldn't keep up with that got the account moved to metropolitan
If there is no chance of a refund I will not waste my time on this0 -
As you appear to have agreed a repayment plan with the lender which you can afford it is unlikely the bank will refund any charges.
You should not be getting into any deeper debt (e.g. because of continuing charges) because you have an agreed repayment plan (assuming you keep to that repayment plan)"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
