No they don't. VM will only install the router to the cable connection initially, set up on the PC is down to the customer which is why it's a DIY job, same as all the other ISP's.
VM do,or did when I was there, offer 'Managed Installs' initially but you pay extra for that.
Reason you install it yourself is the VM installers are not PC engineers,so if they installed it fully & something went wrong, then they'd be liable, which is why it's a DIY.
I once investigated a claim for my manager like that, went out to the customer to find the PC was Win 95,with no Ethernet or USB & an incompatable OS.....

No ethernet is a problem however routers are platform independent so you cannot have an incompatible OS

    new update.
Virgin media phoned, and after 30min put me through to some technician, who had to put me on hold as he spoke to another technician, and to cut a long story short as in a 50min phonecall, got told it would take 7 days to fix my error code 0070,aka stuck behind their firewall, which is what i told the woman i was originally speaking to, and to the technician i spoke to afterwards, why it takes 7 days i have no idea. Guess they dont know what they are doing, but since this problem has been affecting people since 2011 they should do by now.
They where sorry i was going to loose the internet for 7 days so refunded £20 to the account.
so as i wasnt told not to, i plugged in my old modem and am currently online. I'll wait to see if the new router/modem works on the 24may and see if VM phone me to make me an better offer to stay with them.

So you'll NEVER go back unless the offer is too good to pass up?
How do I add a signature?

I think you'll find the 0700 error code means the router is stuck in the activation queue.

VM need to remove the router from the queue, which should then allow you to activate it.

I dont care what it actually means, VM arent doing anything about it, so i put in a complaint with the CEO, i've been told a week ago it was going to take a week, and nothing, same error code, rephoned, told 24hrs, seems he got told the wrong thing, as i was told the next day he should have said it would take 24hrs for it to be put in the queue to be removed. and that I should have been told it would take ANOTHER week, well that would put the date of the fix and me getting 20mb sometime in the begining of June 5th if you dont include sat and sun as work days, and as i disconnection date is 13 June i just cant be bothered with it any more, currently have the old 10mb modem connected so i can download movies/ tv shows that i regularly watch, and i'll be looking for a new supplier, was thinking of going with southern electric as they do telephone and broadband and i would get £40 off my bills with them as well, only draw back is i need a bt landline, i have one in my house as i was with bt 10-12years ago when we switch,. but have no idea how to reactivate the line and go with SE or any of the others which use the bt line, Sky, tiscali, talktalk, do i talk to BT or to the company i'm thinking of joining, and they talk to BT?
I'm waiting to see what happens first with Virgin Media when we get closer to the disconnection date and if the CEO and his team do anything.
but i'm not holding my breath

had a phone call from a bloke named David on monday who works on the CEO's team, his dealing with the problems i'm having, and has requested a engineer come out and replace the modem and get it activated today.
LOL engineer cant fix the problem, my disconnection date of the 13June, it seems has already been and gone, according to their system i'm in the process of being disconnected or already disconnected. Which is why they cant activate the new modem which is in the GARDEN WALLED.
they can not remove it form the firewall because i'm leaving them.
Only way i can activate the modem, is to cancell the disconnection, get the modem activated and then give another 30days notice of cancellation.disconnection.
now i'm going to be contacting David again and giving him an update.
