Anyone know if I will be able to get currency in Turkey on a Friday?

We are off to Turkey in a couple of weeks and the general consensus seems to be just take sterling and change it over there as you get a better rate. However, we're arriving at 2pm on a Friday (and that's at the airport, will be much later by the time we get to hotel), by the time we get settled in will there still be banks etc. open to exchange? Also, what's the best place there to exchange cash, bank, post office etc? Thanks.

We actually got a better deal spending sterling over there, they seem to cut prices if you pay with English money. Didn't change a penny over, apart from for visas.0

if you're going to a tourist area, yes, you'll be able to change money no problem. Almost all the grocery minimarkets will do it for you, there may be change offices dotted around the resorts etc.
I never bothered going to banks at all to change money whilst in Turkish resorts, the change offices/shops were all fairly competitive with the bank rate. We even had a little PTT (post office) caravan one summer in Gumbet, which gave the bank rate, sold stamps for postcards etc, had a little post box attached to it, and was open from early afternoon until late evening on one of the main tourist streets . .
You could also just take your debit card and use the atms in your resort, you get the bank rate then and if you withdraw £100 (ie not small sums) in one transaction your bank fee shouldn't be that disadvantageous.
eta - usually the worst place to change your money is at your hotel, the rate is usually not as good as you can get if you look around a little, and they may charge a fee.0

I wish people wouldn't keep saying we're going to Turkey!
There are dozens of resorts strung down the Aegean and Mediterranean.
Tell us which resort you're staying at, and the chances are that someone will give you very focused advice, not only on currency exchange but a few other good tips too!0

 Travelled it and loved it.
Particularly Selcuk, walked for miles there without another person in sight stopping every now and again at a random fruit stall.
 Great place.0

The only problem will be on Fridays. With Turkey being a Muslim country it means the chap in the photo will leave work for a few hours on Friday to visit the Mosque and the ATM will not work.
