if i want to appeal

do you have to phone them to say i want to appeal or do i just send gl24 form off with sick note

i have already had form filled in at cab

    The GL24 form can be used to make appeal or you can do so with a suitable letter. Sicknote will enable you to continue getting assessment rate until appeal heard. ButI assume when you say form you mean ESA50 rather than GL24... i.e. that CAB have helped you with the Work capability assessment... if so then it may be worth getting their support again if you don't feel competent to appeal.

    If you do intend to appeal I'd advise you first request copy of the evidence used to take the decision and ask for a statement of reasons for the decision (if not already provided). Seek any medical evidence you can that supports your claim regarding which descriptors you think apply.

    If you appeal then DWP will first do a reconsideration to see if they can change their decision.

    Just to warn you that you might have a problem getting hold of the Statement of Reasons. Several people have reported problems and it has happened to me too.
