Bank withdrawing an offer?

I have had an offer, in form of a cheque, from Clydesdale Bank for half my charges, but have written back requesting the full amount. Has anyone had their bank stop the cheque or withdraw offer completely? I have kept cheque but not cashed.

You should have either: said that you accept the offer in part settlement, but inform them that you will persue them for the remiaining £XXX making sure that you send it by a trackable method and confirm the delivery and then cashed the cheque, OR, better still, returned the cheque to them rejecting their offer.

Ive actually not posted letter yet so might change it! The banks letter does state that if I cash cheque then I have accepted their offer IN FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT. Thats why im hesitating on cashing the cheque. Dont want to send it back either as terrified ill end up with nothing!!
