  • I have found my mortgage papers and the mortgage exit fee is clearly stated as £225. I phoned the bank and they said because I willingly signed up to this I cannot get a refund. Can I still pursue a refund?

    Regards

No, you have nothing to continue as you were charged the correct amount.

sorry due to the flodding and arriving back from holiday all on the same day!! I never saw the programme you are all refering to.

Please can someone advise me if I can claim a product fee back from A&L I was charged £599 for switching to another fixed rate, the last fixed rate had just finished so no charges, as I change approx every 5 years I would be interested to know if I am able to claim some of these fees back

    Thanks in advance

What you are describing sounds like a product fee, not a MEAF unfortunately and therefore is not reclaimable.

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the address i should send my letter to for Natwest?I rang the number shown in the chart But that was for the RBS and although they own Natwest they won't deal with it.They gave me Natwests number and Natwest say i am not entitled to any money.I know i am so i am writing to them instead.Do i write to the address in the chart(that could be RBS)Or do i write to the address that is in all my letters from Natwest mortgage centre in Birmingham?

    Hello,

I have just written to NatWest to reclaim my mortgage sealing fee. I used the address given on NatWests own website. It was under a FAQ about Mortgage Exit/Sealing Fees. See link below

    http://www.natwest.com/personal02.asp?id=PERSONAL/BORROW/MORTGAGES/FAQS#admin_fees

    Good luck!

I repaid my mortgage early to Birmingham Midshires building society in 1998 and paid an early redemption fee. It was not a special term mortgage or similar. Does anyone know if it is too late now to try to reclaim some of the fee back?
    Thanks Bev

There is no time limit applicable, though the mortgage is not recent so a large refund shouldn't be expected.

I'd disagree, Noz. I would suggest that the usual 6 year statute of limitations applies, although some lenders aren't enforcing this.

As you say, though, the amount of any refund for a redemption that long ago will be very small.
