Card companies won't updated my credit file

Hullo all

I could do with some help. I've checked my credit file online and there are two cards and a loan company that still have me 'in the red' and are effecting my credit score. The debts were settled a long time ago. I used a template letter to write to them (there were 5 incorrect things in total). Two of the five of them have updated their sections so thats great but these three are not updating despite my requests.

I've tried ringing, writing, no avail.

Where can I go next?

There is a possibility that Experian may investigate for you if you have proofs, so its worth searching on their website for how to dispute information if you are signed up with them

Its the law that your info on your credit files needs to be correct, have you phoned experian as I know these things do take time for them to adjust your files.

If you have your credit report, you will have a reference number which you can use on Experian's website to report the incorrect information. Experian should take steps to investigate / correct the data.
    https://www.creditreporthelp.experian.co.uk/creditexpertqueries/

Be warned that Experian are very disorganised with their emails and take a long time to respond. If you have several errors reported, they do seem to get tangled up so you might be better off doing one error at a time. The downside is this will take even longer.

At the end of the day, they should not hold incorrect personal data about you and they can be reported to the information commissioner if they don't correct data when asked.

Click on the link "credit explained" on this webpage. See section 4.
