When we first start out on the dfw trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, cancelling sky and the gym :money:

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging your washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they are really imprortant :j :T :rotfl:

Morning folks,

Thought I'd start the thread off this morning....lots to do so best get motivated

Today I have/will
  • Meals from stores
  • Find something nice and healthy to cook from scratch tonight
  • Track last nights dinner
  • Plan meals for the week ahead
  • Checked online banking
  • Have an nsd
  • Read papers online
  • Extra jumper on instead of the heating
  • Do at least 5 hours of college work
  • Have an afternoon nap or an early night tonight - so tired all the time
  • Have a casual mooch around websites for another job
  • Washing on low temp and air dry
  • Have a mass filing session
  • Work on bits n bobs for the anniversary - what do we think the weather will be like in June???
  • Watch a film on sky with DH rather than going out
  • Spend at least 20 mins meditating/reducing stress

Think that's about it - take care everyone

Hi Candy, wow it's quiet in here today!

Well I took the dog over to the park first thing, in the rain, so think it's going to be a beach free bank holiday weekend :(. Never mind, girls night in tonight which is costing me the price of a bottle of wine and jar of olives!!:D

    This weekend I will (try):
    • Low spend weekend due to ridiculously optimistic repayment to cc yesterday.
    • Neighbour has offered to lend DH his hedge trimmer, so as it only needs cutting once a year that's delayed a purchase for 12 months!!
    • Low petrol weekend if the weather stays like this.
    • Meals from stores
Can't think of anything else, must need more coffee!

Oh,candy, the weather in June will be fantastic, sunny days, lovely warm evenings. Cus we are camping!! We must be mad!:rotfl::rotfl:

    Adding
    • Pad
    • DH came home from work with bootfull of wood from skip and is going back for more! We haven't even started saving for the wood burner yet!!
    • About to make bread pudding with all the crusts from the week.

Hopefully the weather will be great as hoping to have about 30 people in our house to celebrate 10 yrs (in December 2011) of wedded bliss ! :smileyhea Planning on lots of garden decorations such as bunting, candles in jam jars etc otherwise we won't fit everyone in if it rains !

    SB clicks/surveys
Read chapter of OU and start essay - not due in til end of May but want to try & catch up a few weeks as we're going away in June, and turns ou two days after we land I sit an AAT exam - so don't want to take too much homework with me!
Do an hour on cross trainer
    List 2 things on Ebay
Add last Ebay failings to charity bag
    Dust/vacuum
LSD - going out tonight but driving, not drinking, so should be a fairly cheap one. Will take £30 but aim to come back with £10!

Bonjour all. Am typing on my smartphone so apologies for poor spelling, punctuation, wrong words etc.

Thanks to candy for starting the thread off. I love the sound of your anniversary party. Me and Oh have been married 2 years on the 23rd and I would love a party but we are so busy, i'm not sure we will do anything. Lol.

    Anyway, today's mission:

    Have done all the housework

chicken in oven - will be picked apart and stock made in slow cooker - DONE ALL

bread in bread maker. Will make 2 loaves and freeze one

bolognase out of freezer to turn into lasagna

must make more breakfast muffins - don't have ingredients. Will make breakfast flapjacks instead

    fix jumper from charity shop

go to work tomorrow and Monday for overtime

    Re-sowed the seeds that drowned

Not watching tell as aerial broken

    rang npower with meter readings

possibly more cooking but right now am going to enjoy a cheek glass of vino as it is past midday :)

Have a lovely bank holiday all!

    Today I have been mostly:

    * Helping Mr Hedgesparrow with some DIY in our house. I was getting to the point where I was going to "call a man in" but he started and so I helped out.

    * Deleted all the emails in my inbox inviting me to spend money

    * Been food shopping and only bought the food that was on the list

    * Knitting cardigan with free yarn I got.

    Hi everyone :hello:

I'm trying my v hardest to get back into the small things...

This weekend (yest and today) I went to a spa with my sis and my mum - my sister's bday pressie to me! Was so amazing! It's her 40th in 3 years so I'm hoping I can save up and do something similar for her then to repay the favour.

    I've also:
    - £3 survey
    - got bus instead of taxi - £6 saved :p
    - procured a baby gate from my sis instead of buying one  - new puppy is locked downstairs ;)

That's it really - lazy day since getting back from the spa.

Catch up with everyone soon. Big hugs.
