Gas Oven tries to light when on low

I have a Stoves oven which you can set to come on at whatever time & go off at whatever time. Also you dont need to push the ignite button to light the main oven as it will do it on its own. When you light it first time it constantly clicks for about 20 secs before the main burner properly kicks in.
Trouble I am having is when I have it on a low gas mark s, 1/2, 1, 2, 3 it always tries to ignite, despite the fact its been on for some time & has been pre-heated.
Any ideas? I like to cook my sunday roast's long & slow so this is really annoying in our small house.
