Not so much where they're built - the japanese / koreans have higher quality control. Thats why Toyotas today have far higher quality than Rovers did - both built in same country.
Also didn't realise that the Daihatsu sirion, Suzuki alto, kia Rio or Daewoo kalos came from Sunderland or Poland
and everyone a rubbish car
gee im going to boil my head now because i would rather have an eastern european treadmill than one of those you listed
even the blue permedrinsed mob would be hard pushed to be wanted to be seen in one of your list:eek::p0 -
Be careful with corsa's, the 16v engine bumps the insurance, same with 16v clio's as well.
My lad is 19, he had insured a 1.2 Polo for £204 a month fully comp, he ran it for 2 weeks before it broke down beyond economical repair. Yesterday he bought a 1.2 Clio Campus, 07 Plate, 8v, £3,500 and his insurance has plummeted to £104 a month.
Clio Campus seem to be ideal, cheap to insure on the 8V and cheaper to buy the campus as they ran alongside the new shape.0 -

make sure he has this one serviced properly seeing as his last one will have broken due to sludgy oil
cambelt is probably overdue on this clio
check it out:)0 -

No, the last one broke due to the seller being a scumbag and filling the head and valves with sealant to mask serious engine problems. However, as seller made several false claims in his advertisement it is going to court with the assistance of Trading Standards. (Private Seller). It's long, complex and not for this thread though.
As for the Clio, this is a local Renault Garage, car is just under 40k on the clock and one of the conditions of sale was a full service, MOT and replacement cambelt. Fortunately with driving one myself we know the ins and outs of CliosThankfully it doesn't have a sunroof

A 1 litre Corsa is in insurance group 1, cheap to buy and run.
Plenty fast enough for new drivers.
Main faults :- noisy timing chain (obvious so either buy with replacement in mind or walk away).
Sensors, well known so any back street/corner garage can fix/replace.
Good little work horse0
