You have your views but when you have invested as much time as I have posting (and hopefully helping) many thousands of people then timewasters grate me!
I can tell you 100% (no exceptions) that you cannot open a student account before the age of 18 (at any bank) and if you want to open one they require proof that you are going to be one normally using UCAS documentation.

Anthorn please can you tell us where you got your information about a debt being reclaimable at age 16.
I believe this to be 100% incorrect.
  • Funny thing is that as soon as I say TROLL he stops posting!

I don't even know what a troll is.

I came on here for help and advice, not to be accused of being a liar.

Whether you beleive what I'm saying or not doesn't bother me, but I can tell you "100%" aged 17 I walked into the bank and set up a STUDENT account, without any UCAS documentation whatsoever. Meaning there must be some exceptions.

So if you decide to help, like others have then I will thank you, if you're not going to help me, and you're just going to accuse me of lying again don't bother, just be a waste of your time. :)

Which is why I said. "Ring them and make and arrangement"

You seem to have missed that point. I'd say the best thing for you is if it does go to a dca, they are more likely to let you pay the balance off over a longer period. At the end of the day, the bank don't have to offer you a payment plan, and if they do, it will be over a shorter period than a dca, that's why the accounts get farmed out to the dcas.

Have you anything in writing to prove that you were told no interest would be added?

I have nothing in writing, I was naive and have been made aware that I should always get something in writing.

In future I will always ensure to do this, I just assumed as the calls were recorded that would be good enough.

I misinterpreted your original post, but I understand what you're saying now, my apoligies.
