Stick with things you know as you can better judge the prices.

For instance it wouldn't be any good me buying silver or china as I don't know the market at all and couldn't tell a bargain from a rip off, yet I know others who reckon they can turn a nice profit on a good day.

If you have a hobby or an interest in something then start with that. Don't use guide price books as ebay sales can distort those prices, do your research before you go. Check the section you are interested in, check the finished auctions for closing prices and have an idea what remained unsold and why.

If you find something you think may turn a profit remember to add in your fees (listing fees, final vale fees, paypal fees) and then work out how much you can afford to pay for it and still turn a profit worth bothering with.

    Good luck

I'd usually say brand name handbags etc, but there's such a big influx of handbags (fake in some cases), I'd never know what was what. But at least if you know fake from real you can actually see it :)

Remember there are other options to on-line selling other than ebay, such as amazon marketplace. It's a slowish service, with regards to actual sales, but you don't pay any fees untill the item is sold, and it's listed for 60 days straight without you having to relist an item.

It's not for everything. You'll be able to sell books, games, dvd's and music on there. I also find it's not as intuitive as selling on ebay.

All things considered thou, I find it to be a valuable alternative outlet to ebay. Good luck :D
