                    Hi,
I have been driving for the past 8 years. I had 3 years no claims, and had 4 years away from driving and I got a car again 9 months ago. I couldn't use my no claims from previously as they were too old so I have had to start again.
I have been driving a ford focus and last week the engine blew and would cost me more to fix than what it's worth. So I went out and bought a 206 gti.
I am insured with swift cover and my ford focus was a 2.5 ltr ST so I just presumed they would insure me on the 206 but sods law they wont and they say it is because I don't have any NCD.
I am 9 months into this policy and due to my age I was relying on getting a NCD in september to keep costs down. I am now in a bit of a prediciment as to what to do from here??
Does anybody know if swift cover will allow me to maybe suspend my current policy until renewal so I can claim my NCD at the end of the term? During that period I would insure my 206 with another company (cheapest quote £3500!!) and cancel once I recieve my NCD from swift cover. Is this possible? If not does anybody have any advice on what the best course of action is here because it doesn't seem fair I should change insurance companies and lose my NCD just because they won't insure me.
Sorry for the long winded post btw.

Very much doubt it for 3 reasons....
 1) they wont be receiving any money
 2) you need to have a vehicle owned by you on the policy as it updates on the MID database (Motor Insurers Bureau) which can be checked by the police etc
 3) NCD is earnt by being accident free for a full 12 months but you wont be driving for a full 12 months so they cannot issue that to you.0
