scrapping my car for cash

Anyone had any experience of scrapping their car for cash?

I have a 2001 Vauxhall Corsa that needs lots of work done and will cost too much to get fixed (more than the value of the car). Not done this before so if anyone can give me any pointers and tips on what to do it would be much appreciated.

You could give it to the fire service for their training sessions.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Drive it straight to your local scrappy and you should get about £100/£130 for it, make sure you get an end of life cert or you could get into lumber later on.
Alternatively you could bung it on ebay for spares or repair (this is what i would try)
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

I got £164 for a '97 Astra in January. Drove it down there and walked out with cash less than 5 minutes later. Easy.
  • I recently sold a Rover which needed a new engine. Was quoted £80-£100 for scrap but actually sold it on ebay for £300!

I'd phone two or three local places that scrap cars and get them to quote what they'd give you for the car. If you just turn up at one I'd have thought you'd be less likely to get best price for you car.

I also used removemycar.com Got £150 for a 2000 Fiesta with a blown engine which couldn't be driven. They came to the house and towed it away and paid cash.

Would have got more if the car had been able to be driven to the scrap yard.
