Can someone help a dimwit!

I was wondering if any of you kind people could help me.

I was wanting to start a blog or some sort of website - free of course.

I want to add info on to it but for it to be google searchable? I would like also to have a section for others to be able to post info.

Any ideas? Is a standard blog's details returned via a google search? Or will I have to stump up some cash for that to happen?

Sorry no idea, I have posted on forums using that format but not created one, the ones I've been on using myfastforum you had to log in to read. I'm a member of other forums that are public though so I assume they are searchable. Sorry I'm not much help am I :rotfl:

all information on the www is google searchable.
the more hits you get, the higher up the results table you go.

there about 500 billion pages on the www.

I would suggest using wordpress. Rather than set up a forum, you could get people to leave comments on your blog.

It would be helpful if your domain name was linked to the subject matter.

How far it goes up google also depends on the subject matter and how generic the term is. For example, a blog on "dog grooming in oldham", will be far easier to rank than "car insurance", where you'd be highly unlikely to ever show.

Don't put anything that is perceived as spammy, or link your site to any old tom, !!!!!! or harry, google has just come down hard on this in the last week.

Which proves the point, the less generic you are the higher up you will be. If you type in David ormus photoshopping in google, this thread is 3rd.
