That sounds right to me, I will happily take a deposit via paypal to secure a booking on our cottage but the charges are so high I would not accept the balance. Paypal take around 5% of any money that passes through them so on a £500 balance they would take £25 of the payment. BACS are free.
Also another grumble... Ebay (who own paypal) also take around 10% of any sale of the cottage that I sell through them.

We ask the same, our payments for our caravan at Littlesea is done either by cheque or bank transfer, which is so easy for guests to use. I would not take Pay pal either for a large payment due to the large costs involved.

As other holiday homeowners say Paypal takes a decent cut. Much rather take a cheque or bank transfer. Paypal is good for deposits etc .

If you paid the deposit by card, whay can't you pay the balance?

Paypal fees are anout 3.4% ask if you can pay these fees, many owners take paypal and either split the fees or ask the renter to pay them.

I'm lucky than, I paid by deposit to begin with, and I phone up when I can to pay off remaining balance in £100 chunks. As long as I pay by July, it's all good :)
Didn't realise this was the opposite to the norm.
