Life cover stopped

Hi can anyone help me with this?
I've had a aviva life insurance policy for about three maybe four years which cost me about twenty pounds a month.
Two months ago I was short for my direct debit payment and I received a letter stating that I had to pay my contributions or my life insurance would be stopped. Since then its been bill after bill and I have been putting the insurance contributions off to sort out other things blah blah blah.
In the letter I've jst received it said I can pay all my contributions now and everything will be back on track. The only prob is I can't really pay them three months contributions just now and I really think I could get a better deal else where. Would I be able to claim back any of my contributions from this company?
Thanks ryan

You pay the premiums, you are covered. You stop paying, the cover stops. Once three months premiums have been missed, the policy will lapse.
If you are in good health and would get "ordinary rates" there's nothing to stop you taking new cover elsewhere as obviously you haven't died and reinstating the existing policy with the missed premiums should be reserved for those who would struggle to get new cover.
Why do you think the insurer should pay you back your "contributions?"I am a mortgage broker. Why do you think you should be paid any money back?
The answer to your question is obviously no. However, it would be interesting to hear why you think you should have something.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Its printed quite clearly in the policy (not even in small print), the short but shrift answer as an unsurprising NO!........Sorry OP.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Why do you think the insurer should pay you back your "contributions?"
Why does this sound like a sarcastic question to me?
The post that I sent was just to find out about something that I don't really know anything about. So to question me about "WHY" i think the insurer should pay me anything is ridiculous all I was looking for was a straight forward answer (thank you quentin) other person whatever your name is you jst succeeded in annoying me thanks for nothing0 -
Thanks for that marley i never looked out my policy agreement this was the quicker option lol0

You cant claim the premiums back - you were covered in that period, so they have provided what you paid for.
You may well be able to get a better policy elsewhere or a cheaper policy or both - but that has nothing to do with your existing policy.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
