Bursary's and grants - dont give up!

not a tip as such - just to say dont give up and find out what help is available to you... and the student loans people or the uni peeps dont always get you assessed correct first time...

heres my last week in brief...

ive got all standard grants and loans etc available to me..

the uni give a bursary upto £1300 a year if you earn under 17.5k

i got assessed as only getting £500 of this...

after talking to parents etc i figured out that i fit into the full £1300 a year...

went to student services who in turn called a finanace advisor to come down and talk to me.. she took my name and checked a computer..

and basically because the SLC give me and my parents (who support my application and give there finance details too) an ID number (to use when phoning and contacting them) i had to get my mum to say "yes you can use my details to give my son more finance"....

thats all it took a nod from my mum and they will send any more payments out to me...after a re-assesment form has been completed..im not certain but i think this sounds like a data protection act thing... all to do with permissions and stuff..

so im £700 a year better off

basically im trying to say that its sometimes little things that can stop you getting what your entitled to - in my case a phone call from my mother!
dont give up and take what they say first time!!!
