Removed thread suggestion

I am sure I posted on a thread yesterday, probably on Benefits board, where someone was adamant that their disabled relative was claiming "dependent's allowance" for his wife. I asked for a link as I have never heard of dependents allowance and thought they must mean Carers Allowance.
Anyway, there is no sign of that thread today, so I assume it must have been pulled. There is no trace of it in my User CP listings, and I did not unsubscribe to it.
To get to the point - is there any sort of routine protocol that if a thread is removed for whatever reason, a post is put on the relevant board to say so?
It would be extremely helpful if such a procedure was introduced, as I have been wondering whether I imagined the whole thing. I'm sure I didn't though

Yes, thanks Scarlett, so I am not actually losing the plot. I do think a note could have been made on the relevant board, just so we know.

Meaning what?
I moderate on another forum, and we always put a brief note if a thread is removed (unless it's an unrecognised spammer), e.g. "Blankety Blank thread has been removed at the originator's request". It avoids all those "where's it gone?" posts, that incidentally seem to occur quite regularly on here.
I just thought it would be courteous to those who had taken the trouble to post on it.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

nah no need to put a noteBGs and abuse have far more important things to do,it just is'nt practical,if your bothered just email/PM abuse/board guide and if they've time they will answer you but be safe in the knowledge that abuse or board guides have removed something for the benefit of MSE

i'm not sure queensway's understood what's being asked for. the op's asking that a note be put in place of the original thread so that people can see that it's been removed. you wouldn't really even need an explanation. it would just tidy things up a bit. i agree that it would be useful. sometimes i think i've been on a thread and wake up in the morning wondering whether it has just been a dream*.

Hours? You make it sound like threads are being removed w!lly nilly dozens of times a day.
If I were a board guide it wouldn't bother me to type a one-line comment perhaps once a week - I doubt it happens much more often than that.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Oh well, I will bow to your greater knowledge then. The boards I frequent in the main rarely seem to suffer from disappearing threads.
I obviously don't see enough life in the raw! (Or do I mean in the Arms?).
