Green card for Serbia

In case anyone comes across this thread like I just did, I can confirm that Aviva provide cover that includes travel to Serbia.

I'm planning to go there this Summer and am having to renew my car insurance this weekend.

I couldn't find the information online but rang them this morning after getting a quote for insuring my car. I spoke with a woman who checked on their intranet and said they've been providing this cover from 1st Jan (this year I'm assuming).

Hi - would be interested to know if you managed to drive thru Serbia without any problems.

I intend to do it next year but keep reading that you "could" get pulled up by the traffic police and asked to pay 100 euros for mandatory insurance which is a con but a good little earner :-(

Any update on your experiences would be welcome?

I do UK to Serbia 4 times a year.

In theory I don't need anything different from what I carry in the EU - but the Serbian police like to stop foreigners and rip them off.

I get a Green Card from Aviva- even though I don't need one - they are reluctant - but I insist on having it.

I've been doing this 1992 when the 'troubles' started.

Without a Green card you could be charges €80 for a month's 3rd party cover. They insist that a month is the minimum - neighbouring countries give a 15 day option for about €18

At the moment no-one will give cover for Bosnia i Hercegovina or Kosovo.

If anyone knows different, please let us know.
