Virgin change our holiday 3 weeks before departure

Hi not sure if anyone can advise or help on this. We booked a holiday in May 11 to go May 12 to Florida. We booked a new hotel which was due to open in May this year. We received a letter this week to advise the hotel is not ready and that they were relocating us from International Drive to Lake Buena Vista. It was an upgraded hotel but the location was not where we wanted to be. We were told we would have to pay for an alternative on I Drive which I was stunned about.

Does anyone know what my rights are and what we would be due if anything from them?

Thanks
Claire

The fact that they won't negotiate is very surprising.

If they can't offer you the holiday you have booked then you will be entitled to a full refund.

I would try speaking to somebody different at Virgin and see what happens. If you get the same then ask for a manager and take it higher.

you are entitled to a hotel of equal standard acceptable to you.

when i put this to thomsons they were more helpful

Does anyone know if we accept the changed hotel what compensation we may be due if anything? I feel at this late stage we should get something.

You will need to read the T&C's of the booking you made.

Try and find an alternative hotel that Virgin use and suggest they move you there.

They are unlikely to give you a partial refund, if that's what you are looking for.

It would be best if you pick some hotels yourself and approach Virgin to see what they say about switching to one of your choice.
