in Wales
I was wondering what's going to happen to us in Wales after the digital switchover. Will we all get Channel 4? because where I live we don't get Channel 4 on freeview.
I guess it will mean the death of S4C being a billingual programme and a useful channel if there are two programmes on that you want to watch but because S4C puts most C4 progs on later you can watch both

Hiya, Even though we are not supposed to get freeview yet, the signal is good in parts of South Pembs. We get both C4 (Number 8 on the freeview box) as well as S4C Digidol, which is only on from lunchtime until midnight. instead of the terrestrial version which is bi-lingual, the digidol version is 100% welsh language.
Digidol I assume is the welsh for digital and NOT a spelling mistake on my part (for a change)0 -
That's another word they made up then!0

its the same in all languages hansi - would terms such as internet/ voip/ skype/wap / email have meant much to anyone before the 1990s?
languages were not designed with technical advances in mind - names only exist for whatever is there in the here and now, anything new which comes along needs to be suitably christened in every language, not just welsh!
to the op - if you do not curretly receive c4 on freeview in your area, it could because your external ariel is not facing the right way to pick up the optimal signals for as many channels as possible. could be worthwhile getting someone in to have a look at it? it is highly unlikely that s4c will change their output to accomodate any more of c4's programming come the change over. there are %s of welsh medium broadcast material which they like to adhere to, if not beatknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I live in Carmarthenshire. No one around by me gets more then half the freeview channels so I guess we'll have to wait until the freeview levels are pumped up! We've got a new 'freeview' arial on the roof which is useless as it made no difference and it is facing the right way.
Thanks for all your help.0
