Don't know about RCI, but have you looked at Dial an Exchange as alternative provider of exchanges?

Dont they have forums around the country, where they try and get you to convert? I always seem to have some information sent to me with my holiday planner statement.

Just as a matter of interest, what were you hoping to do with points that you havnt been able to do with weeks?
So many shoes, so little time....
  • We briefly looked at doing this a couple of years ago - they wanted about £6,000 to convert to the points system - I was naively expecting a simple swap. Needless to say, we are still with RCI Weeks. We mainly exchange to the USA and availability is still pretty good. Europe however is another matter.
If you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.

    hi

My mum currently has a timeshare in Tenerife Royal Country Club, management fees paid to GVC. It is for a fixed week, week 36. My mum wants to give it to me as she has been trying to sell it for a year. I am a teacher and week 36 (beginning of Sept) means that i would be unable to go. I was wondering if you have any advice on transferring to the points system or changing weeks? If this not possible, have you got advice on selling?

    Thanks

I would like to buy a timeshare but unsure of how to go about it and who to buy from. Would like to have use during August and have pool and kids facilities. Would also want to swop it for other countries.

How much should I expect to pay to buy and what are an estimate of annual fees & charges.

    Thanks for any advice.

Just returned from a timeshare exchange in Arizona..fabulous! When we bought we chose a resort in Cornwall in August which gives great trading power if you are likely to exchange. We then looked at the fees, about £350 year plus the cost of the exchange company, RCI or II which is about £200 for 5 years membership. We bartered with a timeshare resale so paid less than £2000 including all fees and although not cheap we have enjoyed 5 star accommodation in Europe and the USA. It has certainly worked for us!

Poppy9 I agree with Bobesox on annual maintenance fees and exchange company membership costs. I would also strongly recommend to buy a resale, which will be a fraction of the cost from a resort. If possible buy one that is in a resort/country that is in high demand thus increasing your trading power when you want to exchange. Resorts on the beach are usually high demand, particularly in USA.

Try: https://www.timeshare.com and https://www.bidshares.com If you see something that interests you and you can't get onfo on that resort PM me and I might be able to help as I have the Interval International book. This gives a reasonably good description on all their properties.
