Credit Card Rejection help please!

Hi,

I was looking for some advice. I have a credit card which is still has a balance on it and I was looking to transfer this. I have just made an application to the Halifax card and been rejected :(. I then had a little look at other cards and found the Nationwide card could offer a quote. I have just filled my details in on there and they seem to be prepared to offer me a credit limit of 2500. My balance transfer amount is 2650. I was wondering if I should just accept that?? Would I be able to transfer all 2500 on to the new card or do they need to be able to add on the fee?

Any help advice or other suggestions would be greatly recieved.

Thanks Smythy

There is a 2.95% fee with Nationwide for balance transfer. So you would be able to transfer approx £2420 with the fee of £71.39 taking you to a total of £2491.39

Thanks for your quick reply madtay. Would it be worth while trying another card? Bit worried I will be rejected from other cards now and have bad credit rating

I'm not really sure about that smytt. I think the Nationwide search is what is known as a 'soft search' so would not have any impact on your credit file and not be seen by other lenders if you applied elsewhere.

Some others on here will be able to better advise on it than i can. They will probably be along soon...

Thanks madtay, yeah 'soft search' is what they call it. I have also done the soft search on moneysupermarket and have been 'pre approved' for Bank of Scotland card and also the one I have been rejected from!? I dont understand!?!

Look through your credit report as theirs something obviously in there that Halifax are not to keen on and would also bet any other mainstream card would most probably reject you for the same reason why Halifax did.

What kind of thing? What credit report company would you suggest? Credit call says my rating is EXCELLENT...
