Dishwasher tablets

We currently use lidls own brand dishwasher tablets but lately we have noticed taht some bits of food is still sticking to the plates/dishes, is this due to the tablets, can you not afford to not buy a more expensive brand ?

Check that none of the spray holes on the rotating arms are blocked with bits of gunge.

they may have changed the ingredients? I find some brands work better than others. I like Tesco's own but found superdrug's terrible.

Sometimes it is caused by the outlet pipe not being in the right position.

I live in a very hard water area and have real problems withTesco's own brand tablets - they leave a white residue on the glasses and bits of food on things. My Dad has the same problems. We now use Aldi own brand tablets and have no issues at all!

  • We use Aldi own brand too think their called 'Magum' 5 in one table £2.99 and they are just as good as Finish, dishes are left sparkling.

we just had this problem hubby lost his rag and was gonna chuck dishwasher lol
Its actually a sign u dishwasher needs cleaning

all u need to do is buy the dishwasher cleaner we used finish cost 2.98 from wilkinsons(dont know if shops do own brand) u take a sticker off and stick it upside down in cutlery basket.put it on a wash at least 65 degrees(dishwasher must be empty)

    dishes now sparkling clean again.

See lengthy threads on this in Old Style section of MSE - there are dozens of entries. I found most helpful advice for me was to break tablet in half - it actually washed better with less as tablet didn't get stuck in drawer, as well as saving money too!

Also clean dishwasher with white distilled vinegar (about 65p from Tesco's if I remember right). Put a cup in bottom of dishwasher, run through full cycle - cleans grunge and leaves dishwasher sparkling, if pongy! To make it smell fresh, put used half lemon (zest scraped out or will gum up dishwasher) in cutlery drawer when do a wash - smells lovely.

Many more tips on Old Style!:j

its only recently we have noticed that dishes havent been cleaned properly, it could be that we didnt try and get sum of the dirt off before we put in the dishwasher or that the tablets arent that good, still undecided

it took me ages to realise you have to actually unscrew the long arm bits and clean them out - i was having the same problems and it turned out the arms were full of lemon pips which kept blocking the holes when the water came through
