Hurrah for PPI! Was worth the shot!

Just a quick post to encourage people who aren't even sure if they took out PPI to attempt to reclaim it anyway...
I had a couple of smallish loans and then top ups to those loans years ago (to buy horses! Wonder if they would accept that as a valid reason now... I am guessing NOT
); they were paid off over 5 years ago with a redundancy payment and I genuinely can't recall whether I took PPI out on them or not, but I did remember a guy on the phone frightening me a bit with worst case scenarios. Didn't keep any paperwork but found the account numbers in my online banking payment history.
Thought, what the hell, nothing to lose, so I contacted my loan provider to ask for copies of the credit agreements so that I could see if I had PPI or not. They replied to say that they weren't legally obliged to provide them, but if I wanted to make an official PPI complaint then then them know with some specifics.
Again I think what the hell, not too bothered about looking stupid if it turns out I never took out PPI... guessing if I hadn't they would have said so in their reply though.
They sent me a questionnaire, I filled it in, less than a fortnight later I got a letter awarding me nearly £2k compensation! I couldn't believe my eyes reading the letter. Cheque arrived this week, can't wait for it to clear so I can put it on our priciest credit card.
So, if you have old loans or credit cards that weren't settled over 6 years ago then you have nothing to lose and everything to gain....

Well done
and no scamming claim company anywhere near
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Quite right, no third parties needed, it was super super easy.
Initial e-mail
Further e-mail confirming complaint
Paper questionnaire
Letter confirming compensation awarded
Cheque.
Simple as that :-)0
