Electric Bill from BG

I recently moved house in Dec the gas & electric supplier was BG, I didn't want to be with them so switch to NPower. The accounts for NPower where set up at the beginning of Jan and BG was very quick to send final gas bill. However it is being extremely difficult getting the final Electric bill, I phone up and am put on hold for 30 mins then cut off on a number of times and when I do get through they say they will get one sorted but can not tell me how much it is (how many more time am I going to be told the same tale). How long does it take to get a electric bill from BG and is there any way I can give them a kick up the backside?

It depends what the problem is stoppting the bill being sent out...

If it is due to them not having the electricity readings from when you moved in, or a system error stopped your account from being set up properly, it would usually take them 4-6 weeks from when you contacted them to get the accounts amended and a new bill issued.

If your account was set up properly but it hasn't been closed, then they would be arranging callbacks from their FLS team which seldom materialise.

If the computer has closed the account but simply hasn't billed you for what's been used, that's a system fault and it could take months for them to sort out.

They will probably be waiting to agree your final meter reading with your new supplier (this reading must be provided by the new supplier). As mentioned above, this can often take 6-8 weeks and is common practice in the energy industry. If BG reject the reading, it could take even longer!

There isn't much that can be done to speed it up though, unfortunately :(
